Annual duck race raises thousands for Alzheimer’s Society

Area Development Manager Wendy Speight has been raising money for the Alzheimer’s Society at her annual duck race.

The event, which was opened by Selby’s District Councillor David Buckle, had a great turn out and raised nearly £4,000 for the charity.

As well as the duck race, there was a fundraising raffle and an auction which had over 50 prizes donated from local businesses and friends.

Wendy said: “Alzheimer’s Society is extremely close to my heart. My mum was diagnosed with the illness last year and that is why this year we decided to donate all funds raised to the charity.

“It is always great to see the community come together and I am over the moon with the amount of money we collectively raised, what a great team effort.”
