Knitting for Dementia

The ladies at Christ Church, a local Methodist church have been putting the wool donated by WM Dodgson Selby Road to good use.

They have been making Twiddle muffs for people with Dementia.  A Twiddle muff is a knitted muff that has items attached to it which people with Dementia can twiddle in their hands.

People with dementia often have restless hands and like to have something to keep their hands occupied. It provides a wonderful source of visual, tactile and sensory stimulation and at the same time keeping hands snug and warm.

These Twiddle muffs are being donated to Colton Lodge Nursing Home.

Patterns can be collected from the Selby branch if anyone in the community wants to have a go at making some which we can then donate to local nursing homes.
